Do you really need a root canal procedure?

What does the procedure involve?
Each individual tooth has an outer dental enamel and an inner core called the dental pulp. The pulp has nerve endings and can cause pain when infected with bacteria, but when the infection becomes extreme, the pulp region can die off and you may stop feeling pain. You will notice your tooth turning a darker shade when this happens. While there may not be pain, this situation is a serious one that needs immediate treatment.
Before the root canal procedure, we first conduct the oral examination. We may take an X-ray to understand the extent of damage to the tooth. Root canal treatment is performed under local anaesthesia. After the area has been numbed, the dentist removes the infected part of your tooth.
The infection is completely cleaned out and the inside of your tooth will be sterilised to receive an inert filling material. The tooth is filled and completely sealed off. After this heals, you will be fitted with a new crown that matches the other teeth so it looks natural.
